Really Simple Syndication (RSS) has taken off in a big way. Just as satellite television beams more channels into your home than you can watch, RSS allows to you display an endless amount of other peoples content. Whilst RSS XML feeds are plenty, there’s not as much in the way of clear, simple instruction when it comes to making use of those feeds.

Boost Search Traffic

Start by submitting your site to the Search Engines for free. http://www.MagicSeoBot.com

If you’re one of the webmasters who uses a content management system that makes using RSS XML feeds as simple as specifying a feed URL then you’re fortunate in that respect. For others, the options available tend to be offered by developers of the software and the usage instructions provided can often be riddled with technical jargon. Many cry, “Use my feed”, but fewer tell you how.

One of the best and easiest ways I’ve found to show the content from an RSS XML feed on one of my websites is to use a ready made PHP parser. Now, don’t worry about what that means, just think of it as somthing that someone has already created; a blackbox that makes it easy for you to use content from RSS feeds and display it on your website.

For this guide, I’ve used MagpieRSS because it’s compact, works well and is distributed under the GPL, which basically means it’s free for you to use. Now, MagpieRSS is written in PHP so you’ll need a compatible hosting account that allows you to execute PHP scripts.

For the purposes of this guide, I’m assuming you’ve some level of basic knowledge about websites e.g. you know how to FTP, change file permissions etc. Covering the basics of running a website is beyond the scope of this article.

Instead, let’s cover what are probably the most difficult steps; displaying the content from an RSS feed on your website.

1. Download the latest stable release of MagpieRSS.
2. Extract the contents of the ZIP file onto your computer.
3. The core files you need from the ZIP package are rss_cache.inc, rss_fetch.inc, rss_parse.inc, rss_utils.inc. You’ll also need the extlib folder together with the Snoopy.class.inc file inside of it.

Niche PLR Article Package

75,0000+ PLR Articles Organized into 200 Niches. Instant Download         http://www.Free-Plr-Article.com/

4. Create a new file to display your RSS feed. I’ve called mine, index.php. Inside this file, copy and paste the contents of the file referred to below and save it.
5. Upload all of the files and the folder mentioned in steps 3 and 4 to your hosting account. Put them into the desired location, but ensure that the Snoopy.class.inc file is still within the extlib folder.
6. Then visit the file you created in step 4 using your web browser.

That’s the basics of it. Once you’ve got this far, customising the way you present the content of the feed is relatively easy. Just refer back to the MagpieRSS website for guidance on how to do this.

Free Website Templates Guide

Free Website Templates Guide

You can have a professional looking website in a matter of minutes without having to pay a web designer hundreds to thousands of dollars in fees…

Free website templates sites are available everywhere on the web.  They can be easily found by typing “free website templates” in popular search engines.  You can preview hundreds to thousands of cool looking themes to match the type of product or service you provide.

Save Time and Money

Not only will you save in costs, but you will get your website completed much faster than if you had to build one from scratch.  If you have some working knowledge of HTML, CSS and Photoshop, then using these free website templates should be a snap…  If you are not familiar with these skills, then you can learn the basics from free online tutorials.  It will only take you a little bit more time to build your site than someone who already has the experience.

This brief guide will introduce you to what you can do with these free website templates.

Getting Started

Before you do anything, you should read the rules that these sites have for using their templates.  Usually, they will let you modify the templates and redistribute them if you give them credit as the original source…  And you don’t necessarily need to link back directly to their site.

They will allow you to remove their link from the templates.  But, what they don’t want you to do is repackage the templates and resell them.  That’s only a fair condition for using their templates if you consider that you didn’t pay for them and they gave you something that would have costs your hundreds if not thousands of dollars in individual web designer fees.

High Quality Themes

Don’t be fooled by the word “free.”  Many of these templates have a contemporary professional look…  And the way that is achieved is with the high quality stock images or photos included.  If you were to build these templates from scratch, normally you would find these images from sites that offer stock photos that may then make you pay royalties for using them.

Immediate Download

With some free website templates sites, you won’t need to give your email address or register.  They are not going to make you sign up to a newsletter and send you spam.  You will be able to click a download link off their site and save a zipped file immediately to your hard drive.

Everything You Need

As an example, inside these zipped files you will find an index.htm file, a style.css file, a PSD file and an image folder containing images.  Here’s a breakdown of what these files are for:

1. Index.htm – This is the basic template which contains the HTML code.  In this file you can add the links going to other pages within your site or links going outside.  To keep the theme or design the same within your site, you’ll have to copy this file, modify it and rename it for each of the different pages you want your site to have.

2. Style.css – This is the file that controls the look of your site.  In this file, you can change the font type, color and size.  You can also modify or add things such as background colors, borders, spacing, alignments, positioning and more.

3. PSD – This is the graphic file that you can modify.  You can open up this file in Photoshop to customize it.  For example, you can overlay text over a header image with the name of your website.  Since many people are using these templates, it is a good idea to make your site unique by changing the elements a bit on the graphics provided.

4. Image folder – This folder contains the images related to the theme of the template you chose.  Besides images of objects or people, it may include buttons, round corners, borders or spacers.  Files are either in the .gif or .jpeg format.

Summing Up

If you are afraid of screwing up these templates, then there’s always the option of hiring someone with the necessary skills and experience.

Now that you know where to easily find free website templates and what you can do with them, you’ll soon be on your way to creating your own professional website giving your visitors the confidence to buy what you’re selling.

How To Use Sitemaps To Promote Your Website

How To Use Sitemaps To Promote Your Website

Site maps were traditionally utilized as a user interface to help visitors find particular website content. Generally, standard HTML site maps have a page which consists of links and descriptions to all pages within the website. Sometimes the pages are even organized with headings.

The site map process has matured considerably in the past few years, beginning when Google introduced Sitemaps 0.84 in June 2005 to accommodate the publishing of lists of links for an entire business website. That was when this idea progressed to pushing your website URLs out to the general digital community using server based files. The server based files come in a variety of formats including HTML, XML, ROR, Text and zipped files as .gz format.

Soon, support for sitemaps began to gain acceptance by the larger search engines. In November 2006, Google, MSN and Yahoo announced joint support for Sitemap protocol. At that time, the version was called Sitemap 0.90 and the website Sitemaps-dot-org was created. In April 2007, Ask and IBM announced support for Sitemaps. At the same time Google, Yahoo, MSN announced their search robots would auto-discover sitemaps through a command in the robots-dot-txt.

With these sitemaps search engines can more intelligently index the website. Sitemaps are an easy way for a business website to inform search engines about pages on their websites. The sitemap is now generally accepted as an XML file that lists URLs for a site along with additional metadata about each URL. The metadata includes when the sitemap was last updated, how often it changes, and how important it is relative to other URLs in the website.

Although search engine spiders discover pages from links within the website, sitemaps supplement this data to allow the search engine spiders that support sitemaps to pick up all URLs. A website can learn about those URLs using the associated metadata. Using the sitemap protocol does not guarantee that web pages are included in search engines, but provides hints for search engine spiders to do a better job of indexing your website. The process is more efficient and as a business website, you can push your content out to the search engines.

How To Create Your Sitemap

The simplest way of creating and maintaining your website is to use a sitemap generator. This is a program that you upload to your website’s hosting server, which will create the sitemap in the appropriate formats that include XML, ROR, Text, HTML and .GZ zipped file. The value in using a sitemap generator of this nature is that you can setup a scheduler to automatically run the sitemap at any frequency you desire (e.g. once a week on Saturday’s at 3 a.m.). Upon completion of the process, it will then ‘ping’ Google and Yahoo to inform them the sitemap has changed. They will also provide you a web based interface for any maintenance such as checking on broken links.

Sitemap generators can be found, as a manual process, for free that you have to remember to run – or, you can spend a nominal fee of and buy the version that will automate the process for you. If you consider that you are helping to facilitate proper and efficient indexation of your website’s pages by the search engines to generate revenue, the investment is money well spent.

What is ROR XML Sitemap?

ROR (Resources of a Resource) is a rapidly growing independent XML format for describing any object of your website’s content in a generic fashion. This generic description allows search engines to better understand the content. ROR promotes the concept of structured feeds, which is similar to the concept of structured blogging. It enables search engines to complement text search with structured information to better understand meaning of a website. In order to inform search engine spiders of this format, you will need to include the following tag in the headers of your home page:

…link rel=”alternate” type=”application/rss+xml” title=”ROR” rel=”nofollow” onclick=”javascript:_gaq.push(['_trackPageview', '/outgoing/article_exit_link']);” href=”ror.xml”…

Changes to Your Robots-dot-txt File

The robots-dot-txt file is placed in the main folder of your website. It is not something that is linked to. Instead, it is a file that search engine spiders look for upon arriving to your website. This file will guide them to what they can or cannot index about your website. The robots.txt file is something that should be on every website and is certainly required when using sitemaps. Assuming that you want the search engine spiders to index all pages of your website, then the contents of your robots.txt file with the sitemap instruction would contain the following lines:

Sitemap: http://www.domain.com/sitemap.xml

User-agent: *

Disallow:

Submitting Your Website to Google

The simplest thing to do is log into your Google account. If you do not have one, create one and go to “My Account”. You can then go to Webmaster tools and follow the instructions to submit your sitemap to Google. If you do not see the webmaster tools link in your “My Account” area, you can go to “About Google” from their home page, then go to “Webmaster Central”. At some point Google includes this in your “My Account” area.

Google takes the “Webmaster Tools” quite a number of steps further beyond what Yahoo and certainly, what MSN provides. There are several statistics about the interaction with your sitemap, which types of searches are being done about your site, how Google perceives the visible content, and much, much more. A few days (or weeks) after you submit your sitemap, this information will start to show up.

Submitting Your Sitemap to Yahoo

The process is similar with Yahoo. Log into your Yahoo account, click on Suggest a Site (all the way at the bottom of the home page), then click on “Submit your site for free”, then enter the web address for your sitemap into the “Submit Site Feed”.

If you use a paid sitemap generator, you will also need a Yahoo API code so the sitemap generator can ‘ping’ Yahoo after it runs on its scheduled time. You can obtain a Yahoo API code by going to Yahoo’s Developer website and clicking on “Get Application ID”. You can then place the Yahoo API code in the appropriate place in the sitemap generator program.

Submitting Your Sitemap to Other Locations

Through the robots.txt file, the ROR tag in the headers, and submitting your site to Google and Yahoo, you will have tackled the majority of the marketing. There are other locations such as submitting the sitemap to MoreOver and Ask. You can search on sitemap submission to identify further locations if you wish to expand your reach further.

As of this writing, submitting your sitemap to MSN is not working even though MSN agreed to the protocol with Google and Yahoo. We were not able to readily locate any updates on this matter at MSN. Perhaps this is similar to MSN’s problem using the “link:” command in their research results.

At SmartFinds Internet Marketing we develop strategies for corporations with a sophisticated approach to digital marketing. From website development, creative, branding, to research and strategy development to digital marketing to digital advertising to measurement, reporting and data analysis.

Is Your Music Collection Safe?

Is Your Music Collection Safe?

If you have tons of music files that you collected painstakingly over the years, are you prepared to lose all of them, just because you thought they are safe enough and there isn’t any need to back up them? What would you do if your entire precious collection of all those music files disappeared tomorrow leaving you with only a bunch of discordant notes – a disk full of corrupted files? You cannot afford to realize that you needed a good back up program after your hard disk crashed or your computer was stolen.

Naturally, you always have the option of copying important files to removable media, such as a CD, DVD or additional hard disk, but considering the cost and time involved in creating a backup onto these devices, online storage is a handy and cheap way.

Backing up your essential files using online backup services is neither difficult nor time consuming. Once you backup your files onto their secure remote servers, you can conveniently access your files from anywhere, using Internet connection.

Today many companies offer powerful online backup services – a simple and safe way to back up all the important stuff on your computer. A copy of the files you want to backup is stored in a secure, remote location for safekeeping, should something happen to your computer, your data is still retrievable, anytime. This solution that provides secure and scheduled remote backup services takes the pain out of keeping your vital data safe.

The following are some of its key features of online backup services:

• Easily backup files or folders anywhere on your computer, network, DVD-RW, CD-RW or FTP server
• Email, FTP, zip and configuration passwords are stored in the registry with encryption
• Protect yourself against ever losing those critical files that took hours to create
• Quickly recover your data in the event of data loss
• Schedule backups to run automatically at a time that suits you
• Synchronized backup feature – save a file and it gets copied instantly
• Send E-mail notifications to team members about the status of a backup job
• Save Disk space by compressing your backups as ZIP files
• Configure in minutes with its intuitive interface

Apart from providing a good secondary protection against unforeseen issues such as fire, theft or damage, it allows file exchange with friends and family members or store data that would take up too much space on your hard drive, such as music, photo and video files.

Mozy Home Review: The Good and the Not-so-Good about Mozy Home Online Backup Service

Mozy Home Review: The Good and the Not-so-Good about Mozy Home Online Backup Service

Mozy Home is one of the two services offered by Mozy for online backup. The other is Mozy Pro which is intended for business use. As the name implies, this service is intended for personal and home use. Compared to other online storage services, Mozy Home is one of the more affordable online backup solutions for the home. This review will provide an overview of the service and will help you determine if it’s a good value for the money or not.

For less than per month, here’s a summary of what you get:

Unlimited storage
Software that is easy to install and use
Automatic or scheduled backup on either the PC or Mac
Multi-layer security for both the transmission process and the file storage
Backup process that works quietly in the background without slowing down your computer
Remote access to files

What’s Good and Not-so-Good

One great thing about Mozy Home is that there is a free version for those who only have a small amount of data to backup. The free version allows you to backup up to 2GB of data. If you need more space than that, then you’ll need to upgrade to the unlimited plan. Don’t worry, though, because the plan is less than per month and you get unlimited backup storage space!

Getting started with Mozy Home for first-time users is not a problem at all as the setup process is simple and the interface is user-friendly. But don’t be surprised if the initial backup takes days to finish if you have a really large volume of data to back up. The same is true with other online storage and backup services due to the constraints of the upload speeds of Internet connections.

Once the initial backup is completed, you can set it to do automatic backups or scheduled backups. From that point forward, Mozy Home works seamlessly in the background without hogging so much of your computer’s resources. The service also gets points when it comes to the security of your files as they are encrypted before leaving your computer and are then uploaded via a secured Internet connection and then stored in their encrypted state on Mozy’s secure servers.

When it comes to restoring your files, Mozy gives you three options on how you want your files restored: desktop, web, and DVD restore. Having multiple options to restore your data is good but some users have reported that the restore process can take a while. In some cases, it can take Mozy a good 24 hours just to prepare your data for restoration if you have a large set of data to restore, and that doesn’t include the time it takes to actually download the files or have them sent to you via the DVDs if you choose that option.

For smaller files, you can do a quick and easy desktop restore, where you simply use the restore interface found in your Mozy Home desktop software interface. For larger files however, Mozy recommends you use web restore where you make a restore request directly to Mozy. While the request itself can be done easily, downloading the zip files can take some time, and for those unfamiliar with zip files, sorting through these can be pretty daunting. If either option doesn’t work for you, you can also use the DVD restore alternative and have your files sent to you on DVD for a fee of about .

Mozy Home also doesn’t fare as well when it comes to customer support, according to some users. For starters, there is no telephone support. You can only contact Mozy via live chat or by email. The other issue is that some users have commented that Mozy can be slow to respond to queries and that the information provided isn’t always thorough. However, many users report that Mozy’s support is responsive and excellent at providing information.

Mozy Home Review Summary

Just like any other online backup service, Mozy Home has its pros and cons. It isn’t perfect but then again no service is. Overall, Mozy Home is an excellent value. To get unlimited backup for less than per month is cheap “insurance” and a great way to protect your important files and data.

Read the full Mozy Home review to get more detailed information and to find out how to get 10% off your subscription! Only then will you be able to decide if it is the best online storage solution for you!

Simple & Safe Upgrading joomla 1.5

Simple & Safe Upgrading joomla 1.5

First Solution : Simple & Safe Upgrading joomla 1.5

UPDATE YOUR JOOMLA WITH ONE CLICK!

What is Magic Updater Pro?
Magic Updater Pro is a software that provides you with the ability to automatically update your joomla sites easily. It consists of a component and an optional plugin which adds more features to the software.

Magic Updater Pro component is used to update your joomla sites manually. The updates are fetched from Realtyna Server which contains the latest versions and updates of joomla. Due to this issue

we need to limit the use of our commercial component to domains or IPs in two different licenses named Silver and Gold. You can also add urls to your custom zipped files of joomla which is suitable

for professional users.
Magic Updater Pro plugin is used for automatic update of your joomla sites. You can also give your email address to the plugin and enable it to alert you if a new version of joomla is released or even

to automatically update your site if new version is released.

Second Solution : Risky Upgrading joomla 1.5

It is risky to upgrade a live site without testing the upgrade process first. So before upgrading the live site you need to set up a test site which is as close as possible to the configuration of your live

site, then test the upgrade on that. When you are happy with the process you can apply it to the live site (having taken a fresh backup of the live site first, of course).

Review the release notes for the new version. When upgrading from a version that is not the most recent, review release notes for the prior releases.
Step 1: Download the upgrade file

To download the most recent patch package and to obtain the MD5 hash:

* Proceed to the Joomla Download page.
* Locate the row that matches your current installation version.
* On that row, select the patch package (zip, tar.gz and tar.bz2) that is most convenient for you.
* Verify the download using the MD5 hash listed in the right column on the same line as the package you selected.

To find the MD5 hash:

1. On the Joomla Download page, click on “Download other Joomla 1.5.x packages”
2. Click on the bold text in ‘Release Name’ column. For example, if you want to find the hash for 1.5.9 to 1.5.10 patch, click on ‘Joomla1.5.10updates’.
3. On the next screen click on the ‘Files’ tab, where you will see the hash for each package.

If you have questions about these instructions, read the Additional Information below this table.
Step 2: Backup your site

Before you actually upgrade, you really should make a backup of your site. Backup your existing Joomla site files and store all the files and database in case something gets messed up, you wont

have any problem reverting back.

All upgrades should be first tested on a copy of your site before being applied to a live site.
Step 3: Install the upgrade file

There are different ways of installing a package file depending on your particular circumstances. If you have difficulty with one of these methods, then simply try another.

* Alternative 1: Unpack the package file on your local computer then use an FTP client to upload them to your site.

* Alternative 2: Use an FTP client to upload the package to your site, then use a terminal session (eg. SSH) to connect to your site and unpack the files there.

* Alternative 3: If your hosting provider gives you access to your site via some sort of web control panel like CPanel or Plesk, you can use the control panel file manager to upload the package, then

use a terminal session (which might also be available via the control panel) to unpack the package file and overwrite all changed files on the server.

Step 4: Check your live site to make sure it is working correctly

Don’t assume that the upgrade will work flawlessly just because the test upgrade worked. Check to make sure that nothing untoward has happened. It could be that differences between the live site

and test site platforms will bring out a problem that you did not notice during testing. If you find a problem and it cannot be resolved quickly you might have to rollback the upgrade using the backup

copy you created in step 2.

Things You Didnt Knew About Windows Xp

Things You Didnt Knew About Windows Xp

THINGS YOU DIDNT KNEW ABOUT XP

to further explore your pc and laptop  please visit http://abhaybali.hpage.com

1. It boasts how long it can stay up. Whereas previous versions of Windows were coy about how long they went between boots, XP is positively proud of its stamina. Go to the Command Prompt in the Accessories menu from the All Programs start button option, and then type ‘systeminfo’. The computer will produce a lot of useful info, including the uptime. If you want to keep these, type ‘systeminfo > info.txt’. This creates a file called info.txt you can look at later with Notepad. (Professional Edition only).

2. You can delete files immediately, without having them move to the Recycle Bin first. Go to the Start menu, select Run… and type ‘gpedit.msc’; then select User Configuration, Administrative Templates, Windows Components, Windows Explorer and find the Do not move deleted files to the Recycle Bin setting. Set it. Poking around in gpedit will reveal a great many interface and system options, but take care — some may stop your computer behaving as you wish. (Professional Edition only).

3. You can lock your XP workstation with two clicks of the mouse. Create a new shortcut on your desktop using a right mouse click, and enter ‘rundll32.exe user32.dll,LockWorkStation’ in the location field. Give the shortcut a name you like. That’s it — just double click on it and your computer will be locked. And if that’s not easy enough, Windows key + L will do the same.

4. XP hides some system software you might want to remove, such as Windows Messenger, but you can tickle it and make it disgorge everything. Using Notepad or Edit, edit the text file /windows/inf/sysoc.inf, search for the word ‘hide’ and remove it. You can then go to the Add or Remove Programs in the Control Panel, select Add/Remove Windows Components and there will be your prey, exposed and vulnerable.

5. For those skilled in the art of DOS batch files, XP has a number of interesting new commands. These include ‘eventcreate’ and ‘eventtriggers’ for creating and watching system events, ‘typeperf’ for monitoring performance of various subsystems, and ‘schtasks’ for handling scheduled tasks. As usual, typing the command name followed by /? will give a list of options — they’re all far too baroque to go into here.

6. XP has IP version 6 support — the next generation of IP. Unfortunately this is more than your ISP has, so you can only experiment with this on your LAN. Type ‘ipv6 install’ into Run… (it’s OK, it won’t ruin your existing network setup) and then ‘ipv6 /?’ at the command line to find out more. If you don’t know what IPv6 is, don’t worry and don’t bother.

7. You can at last get rid of tasks on the computer from the command line by using ‘taskkill /pid’ and the task number, or just ‘tskill’ and the process number. Find that out by typing ‘tasklist’, which will also tell you a lot about what’s going on in your system.

8. XP will treat Zip files like folders, which is nice if you’ve got a fast machine. On slower machines, you can make XP leave zip files well alone by typing ‘regsvr32 /u zipfldr.dll’ at the command line. If you change your mind later, you can put things back as they were by typing ‘regsvr32 zipfldr.dll’.

9. XP has ClearType — Microsoft’s anti-aliasing font display technology — but doesn’t have it enabled by default. It’s well worth trying, especially if you were there for DOS and all those years of staring at a screen have given you the eyes of an astigmatic bat. To enable ClearType, right click on the desktop, select Properties, Appearance, Effects, select ClearType from the second drop-down menu and enable the selection. Expect best results on laptop displays. If you want to use ClearType on the Welcome login screen as well, set the registry entry HKEY_USERS/.DEFAULT/Control Panel/Desktop/FontSmoothingType to 2.

10. You can use Remote Assistance to help a friend who’s using network address translation (NAT) on a home network, but not automatically. Get your pal to email you a Remote Assistance invitation and edit the file. Under the RCTICKET attribute will be a NAT IP address, like 192.168.1.10. Replace this with your chum’s real IP address — they can find this out by going to www.whatismyip.com — and get them to make sure that they’ve got port 3389 open on their firewall and forwarded to the errant computer.

11. You can run a program as a different user without logging out and back in again. Right click the icon, select Run As… and enter the user name and password you want to use. This only applies for that run. The trick is particularly useful if you need to have administrative permissions to install a program, which many require. Note that you can have some fun by running programs multiple times on the same system as different users, but this can have unforeseen effects.

12. Windows XP can be very insistent about you checking for auto updates, registering a Passport, using Windows Messenger and so on. After a while, the nagging goes away, but if you feel you might slip the bonds of sanity before that point, run Regedit, go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows/Current Version/Explorer/Advanced and create a DWORD value called EnableBalloonTips with a value of 0.

13. You can start up without needing to enter a user name or password. Select Run… from the start menu and type ‘control userpasswords2′, which will open the user accounts application. On the Users tab, clear the box for Users Must Enter A User Name And Password To Use This Computer, and click on OK. An Automatically Log On dialog box will appear; enter the user name and password for the account you want to use.

14. Internet Explorer 6 will automatically delete temporary files, but only if you tell it to. Start the browser, select Tools / Internet Options… and Advanced, go down to the Security area and check the box to Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when browser is closed.

15. XP comes with a free Network Activity Light, just in case you can’t see the LEDs twinkle on your network card. Right click on My Network Places on the desktop, then select Properties. Right click on the description for your LAN or dial-up connection, select Properties, then check the Show icon in notification area when connected box. You’ll now see a tiny network icon on the right of your task bar that glimmers nicely during network traffic.

16. The Start Menu can be leisurely when it decides to appear, but you can speed things along by changing the registry entry HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Control Panel/Desktop/MenuShowDelay from the default 400 to something a little snappier. Like 0.

17. You can rename loads of files at once in Windows Explorer. Highlight a set of files in a window, then right click on one and rename it. All the other files will be renamed to that name, with individual numbers in brackets to distinguish them. Also, in a folder you can arrange icons in alphabetised groups by View, Arrange Icon By… Show In Groups.

18. Windows Media Player will display the cover art for albums as it plays the tracks — if it found the picture on the Internet when you copied the tracks from the CD. If it didn’t, or if you have lots of pre-WMP music files, you can put your own copy of the cover art in the same directory as the tracks. Just call it folder.jpg and Windows Media Player will pick it up and display it.

19. Windows key + Break brings up the System Properties dialogue box; Windows key + D brings up the desktop; Windows key + Tab moves through the taskbar buttons.

Personal Review About Offline Browser

Personal Review About Offline Browser

Are you limited to use Internet on schedule or on rate? Do you remember the days of dial-up connections, when to save money, you’d try and save and download as many pages as possible for reading later? Now with the advent of broadband, those days are thankfully gone for most people. But there are occasions when you might want to save a whole website for offline reading or to do a backup. If that’s your case, then you should have a powerful and handy offline browser. Here I will commend some excellent and applied offline browsers to you. They are: SurfOffline, A1 Website Download, BackStreet Browser, BlackWidow and Offline Commander. Follow me and there must have a suited one for you!

SurfOffline is a fast and convenient offline browser with easy navigation and simple interface. Capable of downloading up to 100 files simultaneously, this application can save a website to our hard drive completely or partially in just minutes. Another important feature is a wizard like interface that enables the users to quickly set up downloading rules. Importantly, the program supports HTTP, SSL(HTTPS), FTP, proxy servers, CSS, Macromedia Flash and JavaScript parsing.

A1 Website Download enables us to download and archive entire websites for offline browsing or storage. The downloaded site(s) can be browsed without the need for an internet connection and can be placed on a CD/DVD or USB drive. The program supports website logins and cookies and automatically stores dynamic pages as static .html files. We can set a variety of filters and options that allows us to determine how links are followed and which pages to download. Other features include support for frames, redirects, multi-threaded operation, link conversion and more. Unlike most website download tools, this website downloader program will copy websites to our disk, and not store websites using a proprietary database format. As all links get corrected to relative file paths, we can copy and take the downloaded websites with us anywhere, and later view them offline in any browser.

BackStreet Browser is a free, powerful offline browser. A high-speed, multi-threading website download and viewing program. By making multiple simultaneous server requests, BackStreet Browser can quickly download entire website or part of a site including HTML, graphics, Java Applets, sound and other user definable files, and saves all the files in our hard drive, either in their native format, or as a compressed ZIP file and view offline. After downloading, all links within the website are reconstructed creating a complete hard drive copy of the site that we can view at our own pace without being connected to the Internet. Additionally, BackStreet Browser provides the option of duplicating the original directory structure of a site making it easy to download and transfer a site to another server. In the event we lose our Internet connection while downloading a site, the Resume Session allows us to pick up a session where we left off after reestablishing our Internet connection. If we wish to update a previously downloaded site, the Update Session feature allows us to revisit a site using new search parameters to make sure we have the most current files. In addition to the embedded quick-view browser window in the main program screen, we can launch our default browser for viewing any downloaded projects. The quick-view browser window also supports browsing zipped website, so that we don’t need to unzip the files to view.

BlackWidow is a multi-function internet utility and a great webmaster tool. It is a web site downloader, download internet manager, site mapping tool, a site ripper, a site mirroring tool, a website scanner, an offline browser and a download manager. We can use it to scan a site and create a complete profile of the site’s structure, files, external links and even link errors. Then use it to download part or entire web site to our computer, with its structure and files intact, to use as a site mirror or to be converted by BlackWidow into a locally linked site for offline browsing and long-term reference. Or use it to scan for and download any selection of files: from JPG to CGI to HTM to MIME types, from small to large files, in part of a site or in a group of sites. The Net Spy feature can monitor all our web activity and build a structure of everything we visit on every web site. This feature is especially useful to find hidden links to files or to spot redirections to other URLs.

Offline Commander lets us create local copies of entire Web sites, browse Web sites offline, organize our Web research, quickly save selected web pages to offline collections. All saved pages and sites are stored and indexed in a local SQL database and can be searched in depth (also via custom SQL query). The saved pages and sites can be browsed just as if they were online, complete with all images, links, and dynamic content, embedded objects etc. We can specify the depth and what type of files to download, also specify URL patterns to match and more. Offline Commander has a tabbed browser interface and provides a drop box that we can use to quickly save pages from within Internet Explorer or any other browser.

In a word, SurfOffline, A1 Website Download and Offline Commander provide most basal functions for downloading entire website. SurfOffline has an easy navigation and simple interface. Offline Commander has a tabbed browser interface and provides a drop box. Even beginners can use them expediently and fleetly. Unlike most website download tools, A1 Website Download will copy websites to disk, and not store websites using a proprietary database format. So as all links get corrected to relative file paths, we can copy and take the downloaded websites with us anywhere. BackStreet Browser is a multi-threading website download and viewing program. It provides an Update Session feature allows us to revisit a site using new search parameters to make sure we have the most current files. BlackWidow is a multi-function internet utility and a great webmaster tool. It’s Net Spy feature can monitor all our web activity and build a structure of everything we visit on every web site. What are you waiting for? Download a favorite offline browser now!
